I am pretty sure I can get a collective "amen" from mothers all over that the last few weeks of pregnancy leave much to be desired. I am in the home stretch and it is amazingly UNCOMFORTABLE! I cannot honestly say that at any point in this pregnancy have I felt all awesome or anything as it has been a rough one but from about 35 weeks on, I have literally been a big ball of MISERY! I can handle the finger pricking and insulin multiple times of day because of the gestational diabetes but among things I dislike very much (trying not to sound too negative):
- The sciatica.
- The crotch pressure when the baby 'drops' and feeling like a small child could literally fall out of your va-jay-jay at any given time.
- The sciatica.
- The waddling.
- The sciatica
- The not being able to sit, stand, walk, lay down...repeat.
- The sciatica.
- The still puking at the end of the third trimester - WTF?
- The sciatica.
- The swelling of e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g.
- The sciatica.
- The bazillion doctor visits (NST's, Ultrasounds, Appointments) that lead to pretty much no conclusion other than the fact that you are STILL pregnant.
- The sciatica.
- The Tyelenol not doing shit for anything.
- The sciatica.
- The crying because you can't: tie your shoes, put on socks, see your feet or basically have any relationship with your legs from the knee down.
- The sciatica.
- The insomnia for the first four hours once you lay down for bed at night and then finally falling asleep only to have your husband and son's alarm clocks go off, which in turns means you have to roll your tired, gigantic ass out of bed also and get said family members ready for their days.
- The FREAKING SCIATICA. DID I MENTION THE FREAKING SCIATICA? The same sciatica that the internet tells you to alleviate by exercising and shit? I can barely walk across the friggin' room - I ain't running or swimming a mile at 37 weeks, thanksforthinkingofmethough.
Someone asked me today if I wanted to do this again. Answer: Yes. And here's the BUT: after a good amount of recovery time in which I am able to get my body back in better shape. After all, the end result is very worth it. But, I never in my wild dreams imagined that I would desire to work out so much or even run. (Note: I will not actually run because I hate it and it is not deemed in my best interest medical wise but just the fact that I even want to run amazes me.) With my first son, I could not even fathom working out, this time, I already have a workout and diet plan in mind, crazy eh?

I have never dreamed of working out so much in my life as I did during the third trimester of every pregnancy. Good luck hanging in there for these last few weeks!
a stretch for pregnant ladies that can help with sciatica (I hope I can explain this well) - lie on the floor on one side legs straight, top arm bracing for support, bottom arm cradling head however is comfortable. Bring top leg out to 90 degree angle from hip, keeping knee straight and foot flexed. Side of foot should be on the floor. try to keep your hips stacked vertically (don't lean towards the outstretched leg) and you should feel a stretch in the sciatic area. I always play with my hip alignment until I feel it where I need it most. If you need more stretch, you can reach your top arm towards your toe or bring the leg up higher towards your torso. Just fiddle with it until you get a position that stretches and feels good. hope this helps! (and makes sense!)
Thank you, I will try that stretch!
